Vault Prolapse Surgery
Overview
Vaginal vault prolapse occurs in women who have had a hysterectomy, where the top of the vagina loses support and descends. This surgery re-establishes pelvic support.
Indications
- Vaginal vault descent after hysterectomy
- Pelvic discomfort or feeling of vaginal bulge
Procedure
The vaginal vault is anchored either to the sacral bone (sacrocolpopexy) or the sacrospinous ligament to restore normal pelvic alignment.
Benefits
- Long-lasting correction
- Prevents recurrence of prolapse
- Improves pelvic function and comfort
Recovery
Most patients recover within 3–6 weeks, depending on surgical complexity.
